Saw Cut Quality Inspection AI for the Toughest Trim Saw and Cutoff Lines

  • Deploy Anywhere, Run Everywhere

Run saw cut quality inspection on area and line scan cameras at trim saws, cutoff saws, gang saws, and panel saws, on the edge, on-prem, in your VPC, or via API.

  • One Platform, Full Adoption

Tools every plant team can adopt, from saw operators and inspectors to process and quality engineers, no separate ML team required.

  • Secure, Compliant, and Audit-Ready

Data stays safe with SOC 2 Type II compliance, encrypted data, and an uptime SLA, with an image of every cut edge tied to its part, lot, and saw.

Inspect Every Cut, from the First Saw to the Final Trim

Add a real-time inspection layer to every saw on the line with Roboflow vision AI for saw cut quality inspection. Built for trim saws, cutoff saws, and panel saws cutting lumber, engineered wood, composites, fiberglass, insulation, gypsum, foam, and extrusions, where a dull blade or a drifting stop can send hundreds of chipped or off-length parts down the line before anyone picks up a tape measure.

Cut edge quality:

  • Detect chipped, ragged, and torn edges, splintering, and tear-out on the cut face.
  • Flag burrs, frayed fibers, and hanging strands on metal, composite, and fiberglass cuts, alongside burr detection.
  • Spot burn marks, blade scoring, and edge delamination, and grade them by size and severity.

Length, squareness, and angle:

Saw health and process control:

  • Find missed, partial, and double cuts before parts reach stacking or packing.
  • Inspect full-width boards and panels as they move with line scan cameras.
  • Trend edge quality by saw, blade, shift, and product, and time blade changes from real data.

Bring intelligence to every cut today. Stop chipped edges and off-length parts from becoming recuts, scrap, and customer claims.

Frequently asked questions

What is saw cut quality inspection with Vision AI?

Saw cut quality inspection with Vision AI uses cameras at the saw outfeed and a trained computer vision model (opens in a new tab) to check every cut for edge defects, length, and squareness. It pairs with wood and lumber defect detection, insulation batt inspection, and gypsum board inspection.

Which materials and saws does it work on?

Any material whose cut edge a camera can see: solid lumber, plywood, OSB, MDF, composite and fiberglass panels, insulation, gypsum board, foam, and plastic or aluminum extrusions. Cameras mount at the outfeed of trim saws, cutoff and chop saws, gang saws, panel saws, and flying cutoff saws on continuous lines.

How does it measure cut length and squareness?

A fixed camera is calibrated against a known reference, so pixel measurements convert to real units. A segmentation model outlines each part, and a Workflow measures length, width, and edge angle and returns pass or fail against your tolerances.

Can it integrate with our saw controls, MES, and quality systems?

Yes. Roboflow writes the result for each part to a PLC tag over OPC UA or MQTT, so the line can reject the part, send it for a recut, or call for a blade change, and sends images and measurements over REST (opens in a new tab) or to a database for MES and quality systems.

Roboflow serves as the inspection engine, and your quality teams own the cut tolerances, grading, and disposition.
