Truss Inspection AI

Verify every connector plate, joint gap, and member against the truss drawing, before the truss leaves the table.

Wooden truss structure with metal connector plates, digitally annotated to identify a missing plate and an offset plate.

Truss Inspection AI for the Toughest Roof and Floor Truss Plants

  • Deploy Anywhere, Run Everywhere

Run truss inspection on overhead cameras at assembly tables, roller presses, and stackers, on the edge, on-prem, in your VPC, or via API.

  • One Platform, Full Adoption

Tools every truss plant can adopt, from table builders and press operators to QC inspectors, designers, and plant managers, no separate ML team required.

  • Secure, Compliant, and Audit-Ready

Data stays safe with SOC 2 Type II compliance, encrypted data, and an uptime SLA, with an image of every joint tied to its truss, job, and table.

Inspect Every Joint, from the Jigging Table to the Stacker

Add a real-time inspection layer to every truss with Roboflow vision AI for truss inspection. Built for roof and floor truss plants where every truss carries many connector plates, crews set them from the drawing at line speed, and QC can check only a sample of joints before the load ships to the jobsite.

Connector plates:

  • Detect every metal connector plate and compare its count, size, and position to the truss design drawing.
  • Flag missing, misplaced, rotated, and wrong-size plates before the truss goes through the press.
  • Catch plates that sit proud of the lumber after pressing, with crushed or bent teeth and poor embedment.

Joints and lumber:

Layout and records:

  • Verify member layout, web placement, and overall dimensions against the drawing, with dimensional inspection.
  • Read truss tags and job numbers with industrial OCR so every image ties to the right truss and job.
  • Keep a photo record of every joint for in-plant QC and jobsite questions.

Bring intelligence to every truss today. Stop missing plates and open joints from becoming rejected trusses, jobsite repairs, and repair letters.

Frequently asked questions

What is truss inspection with Vision AI?

Truss inspection with Vision AI uses overhead cameras at the assembly table, press, and stacker and a trained computer vision model (opens in a new tab) to find every connector plate and joint, compare them to the truss design drawing, and flag missing or misplaced plates, poor embedment, joint gaps, and lumber defects in plate areas. It pairs with modular and offsite construction inspection for wall panels and modules.

Does it support ANSI/TPI 1 quality programs?

Yes. ANSI/TPI 1, the national standard for metal plate connected wood truss construction, sets in-plant quality requirements for plate placement, plate embedment, joint gaps, and lumber condition at the joint. Truss inspection checks those conditions on every truss instead of a sample, and keeps an image of every joint for the QC record.

Can it check every truss when every truss is different?

Yes. A Workflow compares the detected plates and members to the layout from your truss design software, so the same model checks a common truss, a girder, and a scissor truss. Several overhead cameras or a camera on a gantry cover the full table, and image tiling keeps small plates and gaps visible. For repeat designs, a known-good truss can serve as the golden sample.

Can it integrate with our presses, production software, and QC system?

Yes. Roboflow writes pass, repair, and reject results to a PLC tag over OPC UA or MQTT, so a truss can be held before the press or stacker, and sends images and results over REST (opens in a new tab) or to a database for MES, production, and QC systems.

Roboflow serves as the inspection engine, and your QC team and truss designers own the tolerances, repairs, and accept decisions.
