Watch Every Drawpoint, from the Brow to the Drive Floor
Add a real-time monitoring layer to every drawpoint and drive with Roboflow Vision AI for water pooling and mudrush risk. Built for block caves, sublevel caves, and wet underground mines where fines and water build up at a drawpoint until mucking sets off a mudrush, and standing water hides the next problem.
At the drawpoint:
- Segment and classify the muck at each drawpoint as dry, damp, or wet from loader, fixed, or handheld camera images, with a model trained on your own ore and lighting.
- Estimate fines in the muck pile with the same approach as rock fragmentation analysis.
- Detect seepage, dripping, and running water at the brow and walls, and flag drawpoints where it is new or growing.
In the drives:
- Find standing water and pooling on drive and crosscut floors, and measure how much of the floor it covers.
- Watch sumps and drains for blockage and rising water before roadways flood.
- Spot mud carried out of drawpoints and soft floor that slows loaders and wears tires.
Risk records and response:
- Keep a dated image and classification for every drawpoint, every shift, to support your mudrush risk classification and draw decisions.
- Alert the shift boss and control room when a drawpoint changes class, so it can be held, mucked remotely, or reassessed.
- Check that only remote loaders, and no people, enter drawpoints flagged as high risk, using the same models as heavy equipment detection.
Bring intelligence to every drawpoint today. Stop wet muck and standing water from becoming a mudrush or a flooded drive.
Frequently asked questions
What is water pooling and mudrush risk monitoring with Vision AI?
Water pooling and mudrush risk monitoring with Vision AI uses cameras on loaders, at drawpoints, and in drives with a trained computer vision model to classify drawpoint muck as wet or dry, estimate fines, detect seepage and standing water, and keep a dated record for every drawpoint. It works well with rock fragmentation analysis, slope stability monitoring, and the rest of computer vision in mining.
What causes a mudrush?
A mudrush, or wet muck spill, happens when fine material and water build up at a drawpoint. Fines come from fragmentation in the draw column, water comes from surface and groundwater inflow, and mucking can trigger the sudden flow. The risk grows as caves mature, get deeper, or break through to the surface or into an older cave above.
Does it work alongside drawpoint sampling and risk models?
Yes. Mines classify drawpoints by fines content and water saturation from sampling, and feed draw data into susceptibility models. Cameras add a consistent visual read of every drawpoint on every shift, with an image for each record, and the results can feed the same risk classification and draw control systems.
Roboflow serves as the classification engine, and your geotechnical and production teams own the risk classes, draw rules, and response.
Can it integrate with our draw control and mine systems?
Yes. Roboflow sends drawpoint classifications, water detections, and images over REST or MQTT, or writes them to a database, so they land in draw control, mine planning, and SCADA systems. Alerts can go to the control room or shift boss the moment a drawpoint changes class.
