Inspect Every Trailer and Container at the Gate and Dock, from Gate-In to Sealed and Shipped

Bring real-time intelligence to every trailer and container entering your yard with Roboflow Vision AI for trailer and container inspection.

Exterior condition at the gate:

  • Detect dents, punctures, holes, torn side skins, damaged doors, and missing placards on the exterior with gate portal cameras and a model trained on your own trailers and boxes.
  • Read the container number, chassis ID, or trailer number and plate so every image is tied to the right unit.
  • Compare gate-in and gate-out images so new damage is attributed to the right leg of the trip.

Interior condition before loading:

  • Check floor, walls, and roof for holes, light leaks, broken boards, and protruding nails before a load goes in, from a dock door or handheld camera.
  • Flag debris, residue, standing water, and pests for food, pharma, and paper shippers that need a clean box.
  • Detect a reefer unit, bulkhead, or load bars that are missing when the load plan calls for them.

Doors, seals, and the record:

  • Verify doors are closed and latched and a seal is present, and read the seal number at gate-out.
  • Store a timestamped photo set per trailer and container so a damage claim resolves to evidence instead of a phone call.
  • Send inspection results to the yard management system so a failed box is flagged before a dock door is assigned.

Bring intelligence to every trailer and container today. Stop damaged and dirty equipment from becoming damaged product, rejected loads, and unsettled claims.

Frequently asked questions

What is trailer and container inspection with Vision AI?

Trailer and container inspection with Vision AI uses gate portal, dock door, or handheld cameras and a trained computer vision model to check exterior damage, interior floor, wall, and roof condition, cleanliness, doors, and seals, and to read the container, chassis, or trailer ID so every image is tied to the right unit. It complements shipping container OCR and equipment damage inspection, with records that support C-TPAT inspections and FSMA sanitary transportation requirements.

Can Vision AI inspect the inside of a trailer at the dock door?

Yes. A camera at the dock door or a handheld device captures the trailer interior when the doors open, and a model trained on your own trailers flags holes, light leaks, broken floorboards, debris, and residue. Lighting inside a trailer is uneven, so the setup usually adds dock lighting or uses a camera with good low-light performance, and a quick pilot sets what the model needs to see at the nose of a 53-foot trailer.

Does trailer and container inspection support C-TPAT and FSMA?

Trailer and container inspection supports the documentation expectations of the C-TPAT 7-point and 17-point container and trailer inspections (the US Customs and Border Protection security checklist covering doors, walls, floor, roof, undercarriage, and seals) and the FSMA Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food rule (21 CFR Part 1 Subpart O, which requires vehicles to be in sanitary condition before loading).

Roboflow serves as the inspection engine, and your logistics, security, and food safety teams own the acceptance criteria and the decision to reject a box.

Can it integrate with our yard, gate, and claims systems?

Yes. Roboflow sends inspection results, IDs, and photos over REST or MQTT, or writes them to a database, so they land in yard and gate systems, WMS and TMS platforms such as Manhattan, Blue Yonder, and SAP, and a claims workflow. A failed inspection can block a dock door assignment, and the same cameras can run dock loading verification once the box is at the door.
