Package Counting AI
Count every parcel, case, bag, and tote on conveyors, pallets, and dock doors in real time, even when they touch, overlap, or come in mixed sizes, and reconcile the count against the order, ASN, or manifest.

Package Counting AI for the Toughest Parcel Hub, Packaging Line, and Distribution Center Flows
Deploy Anywhere, Run Everywhere
Run package counting on conveyor, palletizer, and dock door cameras on the edge, on-prem, in your VPC, or via API.

Count Every Package at Every Handoff, from the Packing Line to the Trailer
Bring real-time intelligence to every package in motion with Roboflow Vision AI for package counting.
Counts on the conveyor:
- Detect and track each parcel, case, bag, and tote on the belt with a model trained on your own footage, and count it once as it crosses a line.
- Keep accurate counts when packages touch, overlap, or arrive in mixed sizes, where photo-eyes and light curtains double-count or miss.
- Measure throughput per hour by line, sorter, and induct station, and flag gaps and surges.
Counts on pallets and at the dock:
- Count cases per layer and per pallet on the palletizer or at receiving, and compare to the pallet label.
- Count packages at inbound and outbound dock doors as they are loaded or unloaded, next to pallet counting.
- Store an image with each count so a disputed shipment has evidence.
Reconciliation and control:
- Compare counts to the order, ASN, or manifest and alert on shorts and overs before the trailer leaves.
- Send counts to the WMS or WCS in real time so inventory reflects what actually moved.
- Feed jam and damage checks from the same cameras.
Bring intelligence to every package today. Stop miscounts from becoming short shipments, chargebacks, and inventory errors.
Frequently asked questions
What is package counting with Vision AI?
Package counting with Vision AI uses cameras above conveyors, palletizers, and dock doors and a trained computer vision model with object tracking to count parcels, cases, bags, and totes as they move, including when they touch, overlap, or vary in size. Counts are reconciled against orders, ASNs, or manifests and stored with an image. It sits alongside count and quantity verification and parcel sorting computer vision on the same floor.
Can Vision AI count packages that are touching or stacked on a fast conveyor?
Yes, and this is where vision beats photo-eyes. A detection model separates each package even when edges touch, and a tracker assigns each one an ID so it is counted once as it crosses the counting line, even if it rotates or shifts. Very tight stacks or packages hidden under others need a camera angle that sees each one, so a pilot on your own line sets camera height and angle.
Does package counting support ASN accuracy and chargeback disputes?
Package counting supports retailer ASN accuracy programs and compliance manuals, which penalize shipments that do not match the advance ship notice, by giving each shipment an image-backed count at the point of loading. It also supports ISO 9001 (the quality management system standard) records for packaging lines that must ship exact quantities.
Roboflow serves as the counting engine, and your operations and customer compliance teams own the count rules, reconciliation, and dispute process.
Can it integrate with our WMS, WCS, and line controls?
Yes. Roboflow sends counts and events over MQTT, OPC UA, or REST, or writes them to a database, so they update warehouse and control systems such as Manhattan, Blue Yonder, SAP EWM, and Honeywell Intelligrated or Dematic WCS. Counts can also go to a PLC tag so a packer or palletizer stops at the target quantity.
