Inspect Every Truck in One Pass, from the Gate to the Shop Bay

Add a real-time inspection layer to every truck that rolls through your gate with Roboflow vision AI for automated truck inspection. Built for fleet yards, distribution centers, and maintenance shops where hundreds of tractors and trailers pass the gate each day, a full walkaround takes minutes per unit, and a flat tire or a dragging air line is found on the road instead of in the yard.

Tires, wheels, and lights:

  • Detect low and flat tires, visibly worn tread, sidewall cuts, and missing lug nuts as the truck rolls through, alongside tire defect detection.
  • Read tire size, brand, and DOT codes with tire sidewall OCR to track every tire on every unit.
  • Flag out headlights, marker lights, and clearance lamps, and missing or damaged reflective tape.

Body and undercarriage:

  • Detect dents, scrapes, cracked mirrors, and bumper and fairing damage on tractors and trailers, alongside damage detection.
  • Image the underside with a ground-mounted camera to flag fluid leaks, hanging or dragging parts, and damaged mud flaps.
  • Check that air lines, glad hands, and electrical cords are connected and not dragging between tractor and trailer.

Identification and the record:

  • Read the unit number, license plate, and DOT number so every finding ties to the right tractor and trailer.
  • Compare gate-in and gate-out images so new damage is tied to the right trip.
  • Send findings to yard management and maintenance systems so a unit with a defect goes to the shop before its next dispatch.

Bring intelligence to every truck today. Stop missed defects from becoming roadside violations, breakdowns, and unsettled damage claims.

Frequently asked questions

What is automated truck inspection with Vision AI?

Automated truck inspection with Vision AI uses drive-through portal and under-vehicle cameras and a trained computer vision model (opens in a new tab) to check tires, wheels, lights, body, and undercarriage on every tractor and trailer as it passes, and to read unit numbers and plates so each finding ties to the right unit. It pairs with trailer and container inspection and tire condition monitoring.

Does it work on a moving truck?

Yes. Portal cameras capture the truck as it drives through the gate, and a Workflow running on live camera streams tracks the truck across frames and combines every camera view into one inspection per unit.

Does automated truck inspection support DVIR and pre-trip inspections?

Yes. FMCSA rules (49 CFR 396.11) require a driver vehicle inspection report covering parts such as tires, wheels and rims, lighting devices and reflectors, mirrors, and coupling devices. Automated truck inspection adds a photo record of those items on every pass, so drivers and technicians start from the defects the cameras found. Your safety and maintenance teams own the inspection program and the decision to take a unit out of service.

Can it integrate with our yard, maintenance, and fleet systems?

Yes. Roboflow sends findings, IDs, and photos over REST (opens in a new tab) or MQTT, or writes them to a database, so they land in yard management, fleet maintenance, and telematics systems, and a failed inspection can trigger a work order before the next dispatch. The same cameras and platform can run dock loading verification once the truck reaches the door.
