Build Weld Inspection AI on Footage from Xiris Cameras

Xiris HDR weld cameras capture the arc, melt pool, and seam in one clear image. Roboflow turns that footage into custom models that spot weld defects as they happen.

Xiris Cameras AI Vision Solution

Xiris builds cameras for the hardest lighting in manufacturing: an open welding arc. Its high dynamic range (HDR) sensors show the arc, the melt pool, and the surrounding seam in a single frame. That consistent, glare-free view is exactly what a computer vision model needs to learn what good and bad welds look like for weld inspection AI.

The XVC-1000e and XVC-1100e (opens in a new tab) (mono and color) are the workhorses: 140+ dB dynamic range, 1280 x 1024 at up to 55 fps, an IP65 housing, and Gigabit Ethernet. The slimline XVC-700 series (opens in a new tab) fits tight robotic welding cells at just 22 mm across, and the XIR-1800 (opens in a new tab) SWIR thermal camera measures melt pool temperatures from about 300°C to over 6000°C for additive manufacturing and critical welds.

  • Featured: XVC-1000e / 1100e (140+ dB HDR), XVC-700 series (slimline), XIR-1800 (SWIR thermal)
  • Attributes: HDR imaging through arc glare, rugged housings built for weld cells, WeldStudio software for recording and playback
  • Integration: Record welds with WeldStudio, upload the footage to Roboflow to label and train, then run your model with Roboflow Inference

Xiris cameras give you a clear view of every weld. Roboflow turns that view into a decision. Label porosity, undercut, spatter, or missed seams in your own footage, train a model in Roboflow, and run it with Roboflow Inference on an edge device in the cell. Your team owns the model and the data, and can retrain as parts, wire, and settings change.

Want AI without the integration work? Roboflow's AI1 deployment device (opens in a new tab) packages onboard AI compute, integrated lighting, and an industrial camera into a plug-and-play system for real-time computer vision, with no separate camera, lighting, or edge computer to spec.

How to Setup Xiris Cameras with AI

Xiris cameras can be used for computer vision tasks such as weld defect detection, seam tracking checks, and melt pool monitoring. Record welds with WeldStudio, upload the footage to Roboflow to label and train a model, then run it with Roboflow Inference on an edge device next to the cell.
