Check Every Route, from Frame Rail to Final Line

Add a real-time inspection layer to every vehicle with Roboflow Vision AI for routing inspection. Built for car and heavy truck assembly where wire harnesses, air lines, brake lines, fuel lines, and coolant hoses are routed by hand along the frame, cab, and engine, an operator works to takt time, and one line routed off its path or left unclipped can rub through against an edge, melt near the exhaust, or get pinched by a moving part long after the vehicle ships.

Path and clip points:

  • Trace each harness, hose, and line and compare its path to the routing in the build spec for that vehicle.
  • Confirm a clip, retainer, or tie is installed and closed at every routing point, alongside fastener verification.
  • Catch crossed and swapped lines, and lines connected at the wrong port, alongside hose clamp verification.

Clearance and damage risk:

  • Flag harnesses and lines that sit too close to the exhaust, turbo, sharp edges, or moving parts like steering and suspension.
  • Detect twists, kinks, sags, and pinch points, and lines rubbing against each other or the frame.
  • Check protective sleeving, grommets, and edge guards are in place where routes pass through panels, alongside cable inspection.

Variants and records:

  • Pull the expected routing for each vehicle from its build data, so every configuration is checked against its own spec.
  • Hold the vehicle or route it to repair with a marked-up image of the exact spot.
  • Store images for every VIN, and trend misroutes by station, shift, and line type.

Bring intelligence to every route today. Stop misrouted harnesses and lines from becoming chafed wires, melted hoses, warranty claims, and recalls.

Frequently asked questions

What is routing inspection with Vision AI?

Routing inspection with Vision AI uses cameras at the station and trained computer vision models to check how wire harnesses, hoses, and lines are laid out on the vehicle: the right path, a clip at every point, and enough clearance from heat, edges, and moving parts. It picks up where wire harness inspection leaves off, once the harness is installed on the vehicle.

How does it check a route against the build spec?

A segmentation model outlines each harness, hose, and line, and a detection model finds every clip and nearby hazard such as the exhaust. A Workflow compares each route to its expected zones and clip points, measures clearance, and reports a pass or fail with a marked-up image.

Can it handle many vehicle configurations on one line?

Yes. The expected routing for each vehicle comes from its build data in your MES, so different wheelbases, engines, and options are each checked against their own spec, and new models are added by retraining on new images.

Can it run on our network and connect to our line systems?

Yes. Roboflow runs on-prem and fully air-gapped, and sends results over OPC UA, MQTT, or REST to station PLCs, MES, and quality systems, so a misrouted line can hold the vehicle at the station.

Roboflow serves as the inspection engine, and your manufacturing and quality teams own the routing specs, clearances, and acceptance criteria.
