Add a real-time inspection layer to every line with vision AI for cable inspection. Built for the plants where the product is a cylinder moving at hundreds of meters a minute, a defect on the far side never faces the operator, and the crossover wound ten layers deep waits for the customer's payoff to announce itself. Whether you're jacketing, stranding and braiding, or spooling finished reels, Roboflow inspects every meter around the full circumference, with per-reel records mapped by footage behind every shipment.

Bring intelligence to every meter today. Stop cable defects from becoming mid-span failures, miswired panels, or the returned reel that pays freight both ways.
What is cable inspection with Vision AI?
Cable inspection with vision AI uses computer vision models to inspect wire and cable through manufacturing: jacket scuffs, blisters, and surface defects at line speed, ID stripe and color verification, print legibility on ratings and footage marks, strand and braid condition, and crossovers and loose wraps at spooling. Models trained on your actual products inspect every meter around the full circumference, with per-reel records mapped by footage that support UL and CSA listing documentation.
Can Vision AI inspect a round product at line speed?
Cable is the full-circumference hard case: a glossy cylinder at hundreds of meters a minute, where the defect on the far side never faces a single camera, a stripe can be one shade from correct, and the winding pattern on the reel is its own geometry to judge. Deep-learning models trained on your actual products and multi-view line setups cover the circumference, tell a persistent jacket defect from a transient fleck, judge stripes and print against the run's spec, and read the reel's winding pattern for the crossover that breaks it, at speeds where an operator's glance samples meters and misses kilometers.
Does this replace our lump detectors and spark testers?
No. Laser diameter gauges and lump and neckdown detectors keep the dimensional watch, and spark testers keep owning insulation integrity; those instruments stay the line's guardians for what they measure. Vision AI adds the layer they don't see: the scuff on a cable at perfect diameter, the wrong stripe the gauge can't read, the print too faint to certify, the braid coverage no diameter reflects, and the crossover on the reel after every inline instrument has signed off. Instrument events and visual findings land in the same per-reel record, mapped by footage.
Can it integrate with our line PLCs, winders, and MES?
Yes. Roboflow Inference exposes a standard API and supports common industrial protocols, so cable inspection events flow into your existing systems: line and winder PLCs from Allen-Bradley and Siemens, MES and ERP platforms like SAP and Oracle, and SCADA and HMI platforms like Ignition and AVEVA, through REST, MQTT, OPC UA, and direct database writes. PLC-level integration raises an alarm or marks footage the moment a defect is detected, and every event carries reel, line, footage position, imagery, and disposition, with a full audit trail behind every shipment.
