Multi-Camera Synchronization for Vision AI on Every Angle

Capture the same instant from every camera, so each side of a part, or every view of a scene, lines up. Roboflow runs your model across all the streams at once and combines the results.

Four synchronized views of a metallic industrial component, with one view highlighting a detected dent and the overall result marked as 'FAIL'.

Multi-Camera Synchronization AI Vision Solution

GigE Vision 2.0 cameras that support PTP (IEEE 1588) elect a master clock and share one system time. A scheduled action command then fires every camera at the same moment over Ethernet, instead of a trigger cable run to each camera, and with PoE a single cable carries power, control, images, and sync. Teams use it to stitch views from several cameras into one image of a part, inspect every side of a product at once, and capture sports and motion from many angles.

  • PTP cameras: LUCID Phoenix and Triton GigE cameras support PTP and scheduled action commands, and in LUCID's own seven-camera test frame timestamps landed within about 9 µs of each other (LUCID cameras with Roboflow)
  • Shared hardware trigger: one trigger source wired to every camera's digital input, for cameras without PTP

How Roboflow Works with Synchronized Cameras

  • Collect: Upload images from every camera position to Roboflow, so the model learns each view
  • Label and train: Label defects or objects across all the views and train one model such as RF-DETR on them together
  • Deploy: Roboflow Inference takes several camera streams in one pipeline from your GigE Vision cameras and hands your logic the matching frames from each camera together, in camera order, so a part passes only when every side passes, then sends the result to your PLC

Want AI without the integration work? Roboflow's AI1 deployment device (opens in a new tab) packages onboard AI compute, integrated lighting, and an industrial camera into a plug-and-play system for real-time computer vision, with no separate camera, lighting, or edge computer to spec.

AI for Multi-Camera Synchronization Workflows

Running several synchronized cameras? Explore Workflows you can get started with to create computer vision apps in minutes. Try the top open and closed source models on frames from each camera for free, then train a custom model in Roboflow and deploy it with Roboflow Inference.

How to Setup Multi-Camera Synchronization with AI

Sync your GigE cameras with PTP and scheduled action commands, or wire them to one trigger source. Train a model in Roboflow on images from every view, then run it with Roboflow Inference on all the streams in one pipeline and send results to your PLC.
