Artificial Vision Cameras That Understand What They See

Roboflow AI1 is an artificial vision camera with an NVIDIA Jetson inside. It detects, segments, and reads on the camera, and calls a vision-language model when a decision needs more judgment.

Artificial Vision Cameras AI Vision Solution

Artificial vision is what much of the world calls machine vision: cameras and software that let a machine see. Traditional systems measure what they are told to, checking edges, pixel counts, and positions against thresholds someone set by hand. Artificial intelligence changes what a camera can do. A model trained on real examples recognizes objects and defects as they actually vary, reads printed text, and can explain what it found in plain language.

Roboflow AI1 (opens in a new tab) is built for that kind of vision. An 8 MP industrial camera (3840 x 2160 at 30 fps) with an integrated 8-LED ring light and an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX runs models such as RF-DETR on the camera, with an edge round-trip under 100 ms. When a decision needs more judgment, AI1 hands that step to a vision-language model in the cloud, such as Qwen3-VL or Gemini 2.5.

  • Recognize: Object detection, classification, and instance segmentation with RF-DETR, YOLO, and DINOv3, or start from 50,000+ pretrained models on Roboflow Universe
  • Read: OCR for lot codes, dates, and labels, in the same Workflow as your detection model
  • Reason: Vision-language models answer open questions, like whether a part looks right or what went wrong at a station
  • Act: Results to your PLC over OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, or Profinet, plus a web HMI for operators

Your team owns the models and the data. Label images from your own line in Roboflow, train a model, and push models and Workflows to one camera or a whole fleet over the air. AI1 comes with 5 years of software support, with model and security updates delivered over the air.

Already running machine vision cameras? Roboflow Inference also runs models on GigE Vision and RTSP streams from the cameras you already have, so you can add artificial intelligence to the vision systems on your line today, and put AI1 where you need a new station.

AI for Artificial Vision Cameras Workflows

Exploring artificial vision? Explore Workflows you can get started with to create computer vision apps in minutes. Try the top open and closed source models on frames from your line for free, then deploy a Workflow to AI1 that detects, reads, and reasons in real time.

How to Setup Artificial Vision Cameras with AI

AI1 mounts at the station and connects over Gigabit Ethernet. Build a Workflow in Roboflow that combines detection, OCR, and a vision-language model, deploy it from Roboflow Deployment Manager, and AI1 runs it, sending results to your PLC, HMI, or MES.

“The vision AI solutions we developed with Roboflow have been a core component of connecting our teams and unlocking their ability to collaborate.”
