Keep Every Shelf Full and Correct, from the First Facing to the Endcap

Bring real-time intelligence to every aisle with Roboflow Vision AI for shelf monitoring. Built for grocers, convenience chains, and CPG brands where an empty facing is a lost sale, and a manual shelf walk finds it hours after the shopper walked away.

Availability and replenishment:

  • Detect empty facings and low stock on every shelf from fixed or robot cameras with a model trained on your own store images.
  • Send a replenishment task to the associate responsible for that aisle, with the image attached.
  • Measure on-shelf availability by store, aisle, category, and hour to find the gaps between backroom and shelf.

Placement, facings, and planogram:

  • Identify products and detect misplaced items in the wrong slot or aisle.
  • Count facings and share of shelf per brand to measure planogram compliance and CPG agreements.
  • Check endcaps and displays are set as planned for a promotion.

Prices and store execution:

  • Detect missing, damaged, or misplaced price tags and read the price and product code to match the shelf.
  • Score store execution across a chain so field teams visit the stores that need them most.
  • Keep views on the shelf, not on shoppers, so monitoring fits privacy policies.

Bring intelligence to every shelf today. Stop empty facings and wrong prices from becoming lost sales and lost trust.

Frequently asked questions

What is shelf monitoring with Vision AI?

Shelf monitoring with Vision AI uses images from fixed shelf cameras, ceiling cameras, robots, or associate phones and a trained computer vision model to detect out-of-stocks and low stock, misplaced products, facing counts, and missing or wrong price tags, then route the fix to the right associate. It powers planogram compliance and shares methods with inventory cycle counting in the back room.

Can Vision AI recognize thousands of SKUs on a shelf?

Out-of-stock detection works without knowing the SKU, since an empty facing looks empty. Identifying every product is harder, because assortments are large and packaging changes often, so the usual approach combines a detector for products and gaps with a classifier or embedding search against your product images, updated as new items arrive. Price tag reads close the loop by matching the tag to the product above it.

Does shelf monitoring support GDPR and CCPA?

Shelf monitoring supports data protection expectations under GDPR (the EU General Data Protection Regulation) and CCPA (the California Consumer Privacy Act) by aiming cameras at shelves, processing images at the edge where needed, and discarding or blurring people who pass through the frame. No shopper identification is involved in the use case.

Roboflow serves as the detection engine, and your privacy and store operations teams own camera placement, signage, and retention policies.

Can it integrate with our task management, inventory, and planogram systems?

Yes. Roboflow sends gap, placement, and price events over REST or MQTT, or writes them to a database, so they create tasks in store task tools such as Zebra Workcloud and Reflexis, update inventory systems such as SAP and Oracle Retail, and compare to planograms in Blue Yonder or Symphony. CPG field teams can receive the same data for the stores they cover.
