Check Every Cluster, from First Power-Up to Final Pack

Add a real-time inspection layer to every instrument cluster with Roboflow Vision AI for gauge cluster inspection. Built for automotive electronics lines where each cluster is powered up at end of line, driven through a test sequence, and judged by eye or by fixed-rule vision tools that break with every new dial design, and where one dark warning light or offset needle means a rejected part at the vehicle plant or a warranty claim in the field.

Needles and gauges:

  • Find the tip and pivot of every needle with keypoint detection and measure its angle against the dial marks at each test point.
  • Flag offset, stuck, and slow needles during the sweep, and needles that do not return to zero.
  • Catch bent, loose, and missing needles and caps on the speedometer, tachometer, fuel, and temperature gauges.

Telltales and displays:

  • Confirm every warning telltale lights when commanded, in the right color and position, and stays dark when it should.
  • Read the center display and segment readouts with OCR and check them against the test pattern sent to the cluster.
  • Flag dead segments, dim or dark backlight zones, and pixel defects, alongside display defect detection.

Cosmetics, variants, and records:

  • Catch cosmetic defects like lens scratches, debris behind the lens, and smudged or misprinted dial graphics.
  • Verify the right dial face, units, and graphics for each variant and market, such as mph or km/h.
  • Store images and results for every serial number, and trend failures by test step, shift, and variant.

Bring intelligence to every cluster today. Stop dark telltales, offset needles, and wrong dials from reaching the vehicle line.

Frequently asked questions

What is gauge cluster inspection with Vision AI?

Gauge cluster inspection with Vision AI uses a camera at the end-of-line test station and trained computer vision models to check an instrument cluster while it runs its test sequence: needle positions, warning telltales, display content, backlighting, cosmetics, and the dial variant. Every cluster gets a pass or fail with a marked-up image, tied to its serial number.

How does it check needle position?

A keypoint model finds the needle tip and pivot along with reference marks on the dial. A Workflow turns those points into an angle and a dial reading, then compares it to the value the test station commanded and flags any needle outside your tolerance. It is the same approach used for analog gauge reading in plants, applied to a test sequence.

Can it handle many cluster variants on one line?

Yes. Models learn needles, telltales, and displays as objects rather than fixed pixel positions, so one model covers many dial layouts, and the expected result for each variant comes from the part number. New dial designs are added by retraining on new images, and anomaly detection can learn what a good lens and dial look like from good parts alone.

Can it connect to our test station and MES?

Yes. Roboflow runs on-prem and fully air-gapped, and sends results over OPC UA, MQTT, or REST to the test station PLC and your MES, so each step of the test sequence gets a vision result and a failed cluster is held at the station.

Roboflow serves as the inspection engine, and your test and quality teams own the test sequence, tolerances, and acceptance criteria.
