AI Label Reading Cameras That Check Every Label

Roboflow AI1 is a camera with an NVIDIA Jetson inside that reads each label and checks it is there, straight, in the right spot, printed cleanly, and correct for the product, then rejects any that are not.

Label Reading Cameras AI Vision Solution

A wrong or misapplied label can get a whole batch held or recalled, and it is easy to miss at line speed. A label reading camera checks more than the text. It confirms the right label is on the right product, that it is present, straight, and placed correctly, that the print is clean, and that the variable text, such as a lot code or expiry date, reads correctly.

Roboflow AI1 (opens in a new tab) does all of that in one IP54 unit: an 8 MP sensor (3840 x 2160 at 30 fps) with a 4 mm lens, electronic focus, and an integrated 8-LED ring light that keeps glossy labels readable. On the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX inside, a model trained on your products finds and checks each label, an OCR model reads the text, and a Workflow compares the result to what that product should carry. Use it for packaging labels on the line and shipping labels at the dock.

  • Featured: Roboflow AI1 (AI1-8MP-4MM): 8 MP sensor, 4 mm lens with electronic focus, NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8 GB, IP54 housing
  • Attributes: Label presence, placement, and print checks plus OCR on-device, integrated lighting, a stored image and record for every label
  • Integration: Reject signals to your PLC over OPC UA, EtherNet/IP, or Profinet, and every label read to MES, ERP, or SQL for traceability

Label images of good and bad labels from your own line, train a model in Roboflow, and build a Workflow that checks placement, reads the text, and matches it to the product. Deploy it to every AI1 from Roboflow Deployment Manager. When artwork or packaging changes, retrain and push the update over the air.

Already have cameras on the line? Roboflow Inference also runs label checks on GigE Vision and RTSP streams from the cameras you already have, so you can add label reading to existing stations and put AI1 where you need a new one.

Use label reading cameras? Explore Workflows you can get started with to create computer vision apps in minutes. Try the top open and closed source models on images of your labels for free, then deploy a Workflow to AI1 that checks placement, reads the text, and rejects wrong labels in real time.

How to Setup Label Reading Cameras with AI

AI1 mounts over the labeler or conveyor and connects over Gigabit Ethernet. Deploy a label Workflow from Roboflow Deployment Manager, and AI1 checks and reads every label on-device, sending a pass/fail result to your PLC and every read to your MES.

“The vision AI solutions we developed with Roboflow have been a core component of connecting our teams and unlocking their ability to collaborate.”
