Add a reading layer to every code with vision AI for 2D barcode reading. Built for the operations where a DataMatrix is dot-peened into a curved casting, laser-etched onto glossy steel, printed on a wrinkled label, or read through shrink film, and the fixed scanner returns no-read on exactly the parts that matter most for traceability. Whether you're marking parts, running packaging lines, or receiving at the dock, Roboflow reads DataMatrix and QR codes and verifies the part around them, with per-read records behind every serial.

Bring intelligence to every code today. Stop no-reads from becoming traceability gaps, keying stations, or the line rate the reader sets.
What is 2D barcode reading software with Vision AI?
2D barcode reading software with vision AI uses computer vision models to locate and read DataMatrix and QR codes where fixed scanners struggle: direct part marks on curved and glossy surfaces, damaged and low-contrast codes, codes under film and glare, and codes anywhere in the field of view, and to verify what surrounds the code: presence, placement, and agreement with the human-readable label. Models trained on your actual marks read at line speed, with per-read records that support GS1, UDI, and DSCSA traceability.
Can Vision AI read codes a fixed scanner can't?
The hard code is a perception problem before it's a decoding problem: a dot-peen mark on a curved shaft where half the dots catch glare, a laser etch on steel that reads as a reflection at one angle and a code at another, a label wrinkled over a corner, and a fixed reader tuned for one presentation. Deep-learning models trained on your actual marks, surfaces, and lighting learn to find and normalize the code region first, then decode, so the read holds across angles, finishes, and damage that a rule-based locator gives up on, and every failure comes back with the image, so the exception is a picture instead of a mystery.
Does this replace our fixed barcode scanners?
No, not where they work. Fixed readers on well-printed labels at fixed presentations are fast and settled, and they keep their stations. Vision AI adds what they don't do: reading the hard marks they no-read, verifying presence and placement instead of only decoding, checking the code against the label and the order, and covering the parts of your operation where installing a tunnel scanner never made sense. Scanner reads and vision reads land in the same traceability record, and the no-read lane gets shorter.
Can it integrate with our MES, WMS, and traceability platforms?
Yes. Roboflow Inference exposes a standard API and supports common industrial protocols, so read events flow into your existing systems: MES and ERP platforms like SAP and Oracle, WMS and traceability and serialization platforms, and SCADA and HMI platforms like Ignition and AVEVA, through REST, MQTT, OPC UA, and direct database writes. PLC-level integration diverts a no-read or holds an unmarked part the moment a check fails, and every event carries the decoded value, serial, station, imagery, and disposition, with a full record behind every part.
