AI Forklift Safety Cameras for Aisles, Intersections, and Docks

Roboflow AI1 is a camera with an NVIDIA Jetson inside that watches where forklifts and people cross paths. It spots pedestrians in forklift zones, alerts in real time, and logs every event so you can see where near-misses cluster.

Forklift Safety Cameras AI Vision Solution

Forklift risk is highest where trucks and people share space: blind intersections, busy aisles, and loading docks. A camera on the truck shows the driver what is behind them. A fixed AI camera over the intersection watches the whole area, detects every forklift and person, and acts when they get too close, regardless of which truck is involved. It is the same approach behind safety zone monitoring and loading dock safety.

Roboflow AI1 (opens in a new tab) does that work on the camera: an 8 MP sensor (3840 x 2160 at 30 fps) with integrated lighting and an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX in an IP54 housing. Mount it over an intersection, aisle, or dock door, draw the forklift zones in a Workflow, and AI1 tracks every forklift and pedestrian, flags anyone inside a zone while a truck is moving, and sends an alert in real time. Every event is stored with a timestamp, so safety teams can see which areas produce the most near-misses.

  • Featured: Roboflow AI1 (AI1-8MP-4MM): 8 MP sensor, 4 mm lens with electronic focus, NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8 GB, IP54 housing
  • Attributes: On-device forklift and pedestrian tracking, custom zones, real-time alerts, a timestamped record of every event
  • Integration: Alerts to Slack, signals to PLCs over OPC UA, MQTT, or Modbus TCP to trigger warning lights or horns, and events to Power BI or Grafana for safety reporting

Train a model in Roboflow on footage from your own facility so it learns your forklifts, pallet jacks, and layout. Build a Workflow that sets your zones and alert rules, then push it to every AI1 from Roboflow Deployment Manager. When the floor plan changes, redraw the zones once and every camera updates.

Already have cameras over your aisles? Roboflow Inference also runs forklift safety models on RTSP streams from the security cameras you already have, so you can cover existing areas today and add AI1 at the intersections that need it most.

How to Setup Forklift Safety Cameras with AI

AI1 mounts over an intersection, aisle, or dock door and connects over Gigabit Ethernet. Deploy a forklift safety Workflow from Roboflow Deployment Manager, draw your zones, and AI1 tracks forklifts and people on-device, sending alerts to Slack, your PLC, or your safety dashboards.

“Achieving positive results using AI in a lab environment is easy, but the real challenge comes when scaling the solution across a network like ours without disrupting day-to-day operations. Our partnership with Roboflow is allowing us to do just that.”
