Verify Every Kit, Match It to the Order, and Ship It with Confidence Using Vision AI

Roboflow extends your QC coverage to every kit, on the cameras and stations your operation already runs, documented under ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, and GDP.

    Part presence, identity, and quantity:

    • Detect every part in the kit tray or tote from a single overhead image and confirm the count per part number against the bill of materials for that kit, flagging missing, extra, and duplicated items before the lid goes on.
    • Distinguish look-alike parts (left and right brackets, M6 versus M8 hardware, revision A versus revision B connectors) that a weight check or a barcode on the outer bag cannot separate.
    • Verify contents of surgical and procedure kits, spare-parts kits, and CKD knock-down kits, where a single missing component means the kit is unusable at the point of use.

    Kit-to-order matching and assembly guidance:

    • Match the verified kit to the sales order, pick list, or work order pulled from your ERP or WMS, so the right kit configuration ships to the right customer and the right variant reaches the right station.
    • Guide the kitting operator step by step at the bench, confirming each placement in real time and stopping the sequence when a part is skipped, with a consistent standard across every plant that builds the same kit.
    • Feed the same models to line-side assembly verification so the parts that were verified into the kit are verified out of it at the station.

    End-of-line labels, records, and deployment:

    • Read and verify shipping labels, truck labels, kit labels, and lot or serial numbers at end of line, confirming the label on the box matches the contents that were just verified inside it.
    • Keep an image, a parts-and-counts result, and a timestamp for every kit as a traceability record under ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, and GDP, and pull it up the moment a customer disputes a shipment.
    • Run on existing bench and pack-out cameras, on edge devices at the kitting cell, on-prem, or in your VPC, and roll the same verification model to every plant that builds the kit.

Bring intelligence to every kit today. Stop missing parts and short counts from becoming stopped customer lines, returned trays, and chargebacks.

    Frequently asked questions

What is kitting verification with Vision AI?

Kitting verification with Vision AI uses a camera over the kitting bench, tote, or pack-out station and a computer vision model trained on your own parts to confirm that every kit contains the right part numbers in the right quantities before it ships or reaches the assembly station. The model detects and counts each part, compares the result to the bill of materials or pick list for that kit, and flags missing, extra, or wrong-revision items with an image attached. It also covers kit-to-order matching and end-of-line label checks, and produces the per-kit records that ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, and GDP audits ask for.

Can Vision AI tell apart look-alike parts and count small hardware in a kit?

Yes. Vision AI handles part identity with detection models (RF-DETR is the usual starting point) trained on images of your actual parts under your bench lighting, and handles counts by detecting each instance in the tray.

Does kitting verification support ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 13485?

Yes. The verification layer produces the objective evidence these standards call for: ISO 9001 (quality management systems, including control of nonconforming output and traceability), IATF 16949 (the automotive quality management standard, including error-proofing and layered process audits), ISO 13485 (quality management for medical devices, which governs surgical and procedure kit assembly and packaging), and GDP (Good Distribution Practice for medical and pharmaceutical products in transit). Roboflow is the verification engine that records the image, the parts-and-counts result, the pick list it was checked against, and the timestamp for every kit. Your quality and regulatory teams own the acceptance criteria and the control plan the records support.

Can it integrate with our WMS, ERP, MES, and pick-to-light system?

Yes. Kit results and part counts publish over REST, MQTT, or OPC UA, so they can write into SAP, Oracle, Infor, and Epicor ERP, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, and Körber WMS, and Ignition, AVEVA, and Rockwell FactoryTalk on the plant side. The model can pull the expected bill of materials for the current order from the WMS or ERP, so verification runs against the live pick list rather than a static kit definition. Where pass/fail drives station behavior, results can trigger a PLC output to release the kit, hold the tote, or light the pick-to-light rail, and they can run alongside existing scale checks and barcode scans rather than replacing them.
